Voted Irish Museum of the Year in 2000 and European Museum of the Year in 2002, the Chester Beatty Library will clearly be of interest to visitors with its diverse collections of artefacts and exhibits from across the globe. Situated in Dublin Castle in the heart of the city, it is home to a vast collection of artistic and religious objects of historical and cultural significance going back thousands of years. Included in the collection are manuscripts, icons, miniature paintings, early printed books, Egyptian papyrus texts and wonderfully illuminated copies of both the Bible and the Qur'an. Facilities at the Chester Beatty Library include a restaurant, gift shop and a roof-garden. Audio-visual presentations are offered as well as free public tours on Wednesdays at 1300hrs and on Sundays at 1500 & 1600hrs. Opening hours are 1000-1700hrs Monday to Friday (except Winter months when it is closed on Mondays) and from1100-1700hrs on Saturdays & 1300-1700hrs on Sundays all year round. Admission is free.
