This vast park is also home to Dublin Zoo which is a very popular tourist attraction in Dublin. 'The Azoo' as locals call it has been open for a number of years, but recently doubled in size with the addition of the African Plains which is home to giraffes, zebras, hippos, rhinos, lions and chimpanzees. Other features at Dublin Zoo are: World of Primates, Fringes of the Arctic, City Farm and the Nakuru Safari. There is a restaurant, gift shop, a discovery centre and a number of children's play areas at the zoo. Opening hours during peak season (March - September) are 0930-1800 from Monday to Saturday and 1030-1800 on Sundays. From October to February, the zoo closes at dusk.
