Busking
Ireland is famed for its wonderful creative output, and this is certainly apparent on the streets of Dublin. The city streets are constantly treated to the music of buskers, performing in countless styles. Although busking is illegal in Dublin, this is rarely enforced, and it has become a popular way for struggling musicians to earn money and gain an audience. Many of the country’s top-selling artists such as alternative rock group, The Frames and modern trad-band Kila, began their careers by busking on Grafton Street. Occasionally, lucky passers-by may still catch these artists giving a special busking performance. Music is not the only art form used by buskers; Dublin is home to busking mimes, painters, comedians, poets and dancers.
